GILMORE GIRLS (2000 - FOREVER)

What could possibly be the best way to describe the most cherished mother-daughter relationship ever known to mankind? Or well, at least to the whole Connecticut state or Stars Hollow?
I giggle every time I think of the chirpy Lorelai Gilmore and her lovely daughter with the most perfect hair in the world, Rory Gilmore. Seriously, what started as another Netflix series to kill my time to work is now an essential part of my life. As essential to me as the very existence of Luke's Diner for the entire Star Hollow. It's a beautiful escape from reality for at least 40 minutes from the real world problems.

Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and their movie night!

The 7 seasons all chalked up with happy-sad moments in the life of the iconic duo never fails to tickle the emotional side of yours. As a result of which you laugh and cry along with the characters. Ask any Gilmore fan out there who didn't sob when Rory was practically asked to drop one of her subjects in the first year of Yale. Remember..!
There's so much about the Lorelai-Rory planet that's relatable. From Rory dealing with the Ivy League schools, to her college-form anxiety, to Lorelai's professional dreams, to Rory's love for books, to their talent of hogging so much of junk, to the amazing movie nights, to their love for rock music, to Lorelai's approval of Rory's boyfriends, to their relationship with the family, to their love life, to backpacking around European cities and not to forget dealing with town meetings at Miss Patty's with the town's selectman Taylor Doose.
And it's not just the two of them who makes the show so memorable. In fact, if there was an absence of even a single quirky town character it would not have been this stunning. It's a typical family show that affects you in more ways than one.
If you are a single woman, it's sure to give you goals on how to be a gorgeous and at the same time an understanding mom. If you are in your teen phase, watch it because ask me as an adult it's the most precious and beautiful time of your lives.
The show gives me an immense amount of motivation on how to rock at being a Single Mother..!

But why are Gilmore Girls so worthy of your time? Allow me to break down what the deserved hype is all about.

WHO ARE GILMORE'S?
A very respected filthy rich family residing in Hartford consisting of Emily Gilmore(Kelly Bishop), Richard Gilmore(Edward Herrmann) and their maids. Lorelai Gilmore(Lauren Graham) is their single daughter who got pregnant at the age of 16 with her then-boyfriend Christopher Hayden(David Sutcliffe). Lorelai being the rebel and very anti of her lifestyle decides to give raise her child on her own terms. Here comes Rory(Alexis Bledel). Lorelai wants what's best for her daughter so she asks her parents to help her financially so Rory graduates. In return, she has to attend Friday Night dinners with her parents and Rory.

WHERE DO THEY LIVE?
They live in a non-existent fictional small town called Stars Hollow, which comprises of people who are unique in their own ways. Very committed towards their town and townsmen they are one closely knit family. Stars Hollow is sort of like a dream town for all those who love participating in town events, where the restaurants and grocery stores are all at a walking distance, those who love neighbourhood gossips and well those who appreciate Kirk's 40+ professions. The show won't bring us half the joy, if it weren't these people. People who make Stars Hollow the town we all wish to reside in someday:
- Luke Danes (Scott Peterson)
- Taylor Doose (Michael Winters)
- Babette (Sally Struthers)
- Miss Patty (Liz Torres)
- Sookie St James (Mellissa McCarthy)
- Jackson (Jackson Douglas)
- Dean (Jared Padalecki)
- Kirk (Sean Gunn)
- Lane (Keiko Agena)
- Mrs Kim (Emily Kuroda)
- Michel Gerard (Yanic Truesdale)
- Max Madina (Scott Cohen)
- Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia)

LIFE'S SHORT, TALK FAST
They are cute, they are witty, they can easily make you question your love for boy bands, they know music better than you, they are caffeine addicts, their film knowledge is par excellence and I bet they can handle extempore way better than you. They are undoubtedly the queens of machine gun chatter. They trick you every time by mentioning their favourite movie characters on your face. So, you just stand and stare! Damn I wish I was as cool as them. The movie references alone could be published in one thick book. And of all the non-stop chatter, Lorelai's quotes are my favourite.
Emily: What are you doing?
Lorelai: I’m taking out the avocado.
Emily: Since when don’t you like avocado?
Lorelai: Since I said “Gross, what’s that?” and you said “Avocado.”

THEIR LOVE LIFE
It's indeed a roller coaster ride. Who knew Rory of all the girls would think of having a boyfriend in high school. Since then her love life has been like a open book in the whole Stars Hollow and every aspect of her relationship with guys is very relatable. While her mother is just as fabulous with the guys as she was back in her teen years. The best part however is they confide in each other when it comes to boyfriends.

EMILY GILMORE
The condescending mother, do you think a show like this would be made without her? Seriously, imagine Gilmore Girls without our fussy Emily. She is as important to the show as her DAR meetings. From changing the house maids every week to criticising Lorelai of her behaviour and constantly asking Richard to participate in the big charity events, she is a piece of Art. There is nothing that can stop her from doing what she loves except for her mother-in-law's unannounced visits. And there is nobody who can wear a flowered robe and insult her dead mother-in-law better than Emily Gilmore. And no one can be protective of her family as her. She is a straight masterpiece.

THE TOWN'S DINER
Let's just thank Luke's dead father for opening a Diner. Because if there was no diner, Lorelai would have starved to death and the consequences could have been worse, like there would have been no Lorelai. No Lorelai means no Rory. And if there is no Rory there are no hot guys around. THERE IS NO GILMORE GIRLS. Ahh..! I feel I have mastered the art of talking like her..
The diner is as important as the owner himself. He's the most charming and flawless human being in Stars Hollow. A friend you can call in the midnight to fix your window because its broken and you can die of cold. Remember when the house had a termite infestation that caused $15k of damage? Hell, who knew he would attend Rory's graduation and cry. And those who are Team Luke, always knew that he's the one for Lorelai.

I can go on and on about why you should start watching Gilmore Girls especially if you are a mother struggling to build a healthy relationship with your daughter and vice versa.
